HiWi in hypersonic group

My task during this project was to generate finite volume grids and run simulations of turbulent supersonic flow over Compression and Expansion Corners.

June 2010 - September 2010

Mini Thesis

The thesis deals with Compression Corners and the ability of different turbulence models to correctly predict the complex flow phenomena that take place during such an interaction. Simulations are performed using the finite volume solver, Quadflow, developed here at the RWTH. RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes Equations) modeling is used to describe the turbulent motion. The models that we are investigating are the well known SA, SST and RSM models.
