Hardware
Manila is just another hostname for the WWW server, used for hosting the old Manila contents from Rice University, including the research-log Developer site, ever so popular Marek's Weblog, and parallel computing course/news site MECH 525, along with a bunch of defunct sites that noone likes anymore.
Software
Manila is built on top of the unusual Frontier 9.0 web server.
