Apple PowerMac

PowerMac and Mac Pro computers navier, stokes, karman, blasius, prandtl, reynolds, rayleigh, taylor, mach, euler, sommerfeld, kelvin, hill, oseen, galerkin, orr, froude and falkner serve as research desktops.

  • CPU: 1.8–2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 or 2.0-2.8 GHz Intel Core Duo Xeon
  • RAM: 512–2048 MB DDR400/DDR2 RAM
  • HD: 80–320 GB Serial ATA

  • IBM XL Fortran 8.1 and XL C 6.0 or Intel Fortran and C 10.1

iMac computers hamilton, jacobi, lagrange, newton, hooke, coriolis, gauss, leibniz, ritter, young, steiner, poisson, hilbert, cardan, kepler, bernoulli, legendre, fourier, cauchy, riemann, varignon, eriksen, rivlin, truesdell, galois, abel serve as staff and student desktops.

PowerBook G4 laptop blackbird is a portable CATS computer.

Silicon Graphics

For compatibility with old SGIs we used at Rice University, we have a single SGI O2 aristotle retired from the computing center.
