Teraflops era is ending; now on to petaflops, exaflops and zettaflops.
A series of lectures on petascale computing is being webcast by the ICES and TACC at the University of Texas at Austin. The kick-off lecture by David Keyes from Columbia is titled Petaflop/s, Seriously (slides as PDF). One needs to install an Envivio QuickTime plug-in to view the talks.

New Top 5 parallel cluster...
Tokyo Institute of Technology has recently installed a 10480 CPU "grid" cluster based on Sun-produced AMD Opteron servers. The nodes are connected with InfiniBand, and the whole thing is called Tsubame. Peak speed is expected to be around 100 TFLOPS.
